The Communications Director is responsible for leading the overall communication strategies, initiatives, and plans for Vineyard Anaheim. This includes developing, coordinating, and delivering external and internal communications to support the church and its ministries in a way that effectively conveys Vineyard Anaheim’s story and vision.

This is initially a part time position 3 days per week rising to full time position after a probationary period. See job description below and contact Debbie Shandy to obtain an application form.

Department Oversight – Communications 

VA: Stepping into the story of God for the sake of the city

Core Responsibility Areas


  • Oversee, unify and align communications throughout VA
  • Own and manage the communication of church’s identity
  • Help strategize and plan communications for 6-12 months
  • Create, organize, plan and implement effective communications messages and strategies for/with church and community audiences.



  • Lead and manage coordinators, assistants and volunteers to help implement communications strategies and tactics. 
  • Cultivate, lead and manage a team of communications ministry volunteers (writers, photographers, graphic designers, etc.).
  • Act as an advocate for consistent, clear and creative communications..
  • Work with church and ministry leaders to develop communications messages to reach those not currently associated with the church.
  • Support church and ministry leaders in conveying their vision and communications priorities to appropriate audiences.



  • Oversee, develop, and maintain VA branding for all media including print, website, social networking sites, and all other collateral
  • Ensure high-quality and highest impact communications are created for both internal and external audiences.
  • Keep social media and website fresh and engaging, monitor usage and measure outcomes
  • Create planning cycles for effective communication rhythms
  • Facilitate proactive communications ideas, calendaring, and church-wide and ministry-specific initiatives.



  • Operate as chief storyteller by keeping ears open to stories of life-change within the church. 
  • Develop ways to creatively communicate those stories



  • Be proficient in writing/editing, graphic design, communication, strategy and multi-tasking.
  • Ensure high-quality and highest impact communications are created for both internal and external audiences.

Regular office hours, Monday–Thursday and Sundays 40 hours/week

Reporting Relationships: Initially to Lead Pastor, eventually to Associate Pastor 

Starting Salary: 65k pro rata
